Filler art: Transport 2 by Maieth Filler art: Transport 2 by Maieth
These are pages of drawings made as filler illustrations for a book i was contrcted to work on.
Broomsticks. Lots of broomsticks.

If anyone tells me i've drawn something that looks like harry potter's broom, i will shoot them, and then challenge them to design 10 interesting and unique broomsticks without coming up with something that someone else will tell them looks like harry potter's broom.
That messy haired little tike has a lot to answer for -_-

but yeah, i actually enjoyed doing the brooms. wierd huh.

All work is copyright to me, but as it is to published i'm going to ask extra nicely that noone reuses any of these images or designs.

Somehow, these broomsticks rather remind me of The Wee Free Men... I don't know why, though. I read the book a few years ago and don't remember Miss Tick or granny Aching saying something about their brooms.
A big lot of original brooms, though! :)

I never understood where the notion of flying broomsticks came from... They are really cool, but why a broomstick? They look really uncomfortable to ride on.

no idea. might be worth looking up? wherever it comes from, it must go pretty far back.
As far as these pics went, i just did what i was told though ^_^

Here's what Wikipedia tells me: Apparently, a witch's broom is known as a 'besom', which consists of an ash stick with a round bundle of birch twigs, along with whatever herbs and magic plants they might want, tied to the end. It's used in wiccan rituals to 'sweep' the ritual area clean of negative energies.

It also symbolized masculinity and femininity, and apparently was used during rituals where witches would swab themselves with the infamous 'flying ointment'.

we should get some brooms, a few wheely chairs and have a quiddich match... or at least race up and down on them, hitting one another over the head.

ALL HAIL TO PING CUP!
