Badmech: Construction by Maieth Badmech: Construction by Maieth
Yeah, more on this deviation, sorry folks.
Would like to say i'll have some new material up soon, but cant promise that im afraid

(is anyone else fed up of images with unusual dimensions being shrunk to fit DA?)

Anyway, I spent a bit of time pulling apart layers in photoshop so I can show you a bit of how my work comes together, and how much went into getting the look right on this particular image.
The top rank of images show more of my the way I worked on the picture and its progress, although it was obviously a much slower process done in many more stages than these 5 thumbs show.
The main 2 images are then complete drawings of the two main parts that made up the legs: the mechanics, drawn first, and the armour which was added later and designed to fit around the existing structures.

Sorry nich, i tried for an exploded diagram but I couldn't do it with the existing stuf, would have had to start again :s

Cutaway has a T-101 look too, nice to see someone do the stage by stage drawing, not many do that lately its all just BAM !! Looky I am done!. Is the armor like CHOBHAM.. COBAM.. Those letters from Gundam, the detachable plating, or is it fixed plates unless the machine is undergoing 'yard work? Also where's the cockpit, head/chest or is it a remote operated one?

I think it would be more likely to be a robotic mech. AI kind of thing? What did they call them in gundam, mobile dolls? that kind of idea. Not so much a remote as a sentient unit though.
I imagine the armour could be detachable, especially around the leg sections, but tbh, I haven't given it much thought.

hehe. remote unit linked into a like GPS/sat supported frame, kinda like a DOLL system, or one of the robots from The Big O.

Thats awesome Rich! You've drawn the skeleton and everything, so much detail. Its a shame you cant see half of the work you've put into it. The detail in the knees of the skeleton is fantastic. Great work. Its interesting to see the process behind it. :)

yep, its my one regret about my style, that it never seems to show the work that goes into it. So I've been keen to get it across on this :)
